Unicorn Catfish
(Ageneiosus magoi)

Ageneiosus magoi is a species of driftwood catfish of the family Auchenipteridae. It can be found on the Orinoco Basin.

Easily recognized by the black and white pattern, although the pattern itself can differ a lot. Wild caught specimen show some yellow on their body and fins, which disappears after some time in an aquarium. In contradiction to most other Auchenipterids, this species may be very active during the day.

Max length : 18 cm SL 

Sexual dimorphism; males form an elongated irregular bent first dorsal spine. They use barbels otherwise hidden in a fold of the upperlip to get a hold on the female while they insert their pseudopenis formed by the anal fin. Type of spawning (ovipar or vivipar) is unknown.
